On Wednesday 15th July 2015 Nationwide Building Society staff members came to the N&LR to lend a hand as part of their corporate volunteering scheme.

A number of tasks had been scheduled by Grahame Every, which would have seen a number of visual improvements are Pitsford & Brampton station.

Sadly the weather in the morning put paid to any thoughts of starting any sanding or painting tasks, but a back up plan came into play.

A large number of nuts and bolts that were recovered from British Rail were gathered up, sorted and cleaned, ready for reuse. A task that is a chore if only one or two are doing it, but when a group does it becomes a social occasion.

As the weather improved around lunchtime the group moved outside to continue the task.

Many thanks to those who took part in the day.

N&LR members are encouraged to suggest tasks that could be done on one of these days: It just needs the person making the suggestion to be involved with the implementation, such as sourcing paint, gloves, brushes etc.

If you have a suggestion or want to get involved with these days, please get in touch with Grahame Every who is the person coordinating these corporate volunteering days.
