On Wednesday 26th March 2025 we said a fond farewell to Peckett No.2104 0-4-0ST.
The loco first arrived at the NLR in 1989 and took part in our Grand Opening Ceremony in March 1996. For the next 20 years it was the mainstay of steam services at the NLR.
Withdrawn from traffic in 2017, No.2104 now has a new owner and hopefully a bright future in pastures new.
2104 is one of the class R4-S locos built in 1948 for the Central Electricity Generating Board to work at Croydon Power Station B. Superseded by diesels in the 1960s, it entered preservation in 1972 (its first home was Buckinghamshire Railway Centre).
2104 will always have a special place in our Railway’s history.
