Boughton Extension
On Saturday 30th March 2024 we officially opened our southern extension to Boughton to the public!
The project was a dream 17 years in the making, with working having first started in early 2007.
Work involved laying track, restoring an 8-arch low viaduct and building a completely new station at Boughton. We’ve also restored an ex-LNWR signal box (from near Crewe) and installed a fully functioning Victorian signalling system.
A MASSIVE thank you to everyone who has supported this project, either by donating, or by volunteering. Thank you also to the businesses that have provided discounted materials or services and to our grant funders.

If you have some spare time at weekends then why not come and get involved with our friendly team? We’d be grateful of all help, even if you can only spare an odd day. Getting involved in any aspect of the railway (from building extensions to helping run the shop) can be very rewarding!
In 2018 we were extremely fortunate to be awarded two substantial grants towards completing the extension. These were:
- £45,160 from LEADER and
- £15,000 from Daventry District Council
