June 2014 has seen the completion of several key items which progress the control systems on the Extension South to Boughton Crossing. In addition to this progress, the Infrastructure team has carried out the maintenance in the background, so that services can run as the Operations department wish and assisted with the loading of 31289 which has left the N&LR.
Whilst the team is working around the railway we are pleased to discuss and show the latest changes to members of the public and NLRPS members who are passing by on the Brampton Valley Way; if the work is not at a critical stage.
The key task completions in June are:
• All pulleys and cranks installed on the Boughton No.2 lead out bench
• Connection of three signals that will control movements in the down direction out of the look & platform lines at Boughton
• Five lead out boxes bricked up, which improves security and with a new idea in use we hope to reduce the draughts into the signal compared to the others on the line.
• Point rodding connected to the cranks on the lead out bench in both directions at Boughton No.2
• Excavations to install the concrete foundation castings for a crank bench that will have two compensators installed for sidings No.2 & 3
A new punch list is being created to replace a Microsoft Project file task list, to ensure as work progresses on the Extension South to Boughton Crossing in a controlled way; so that the Infrastructure team do not miss any tasks and to ensure work is carried out in the most efficient order.
